About the Director
Mission:
To provide enrichment programs that are appropriate for children with ADHD,
speech/language delays, Learning Disabilities, Asperger’s Syndrome, PDD or
any social and emotional problems.
SNAAC is a
non-sectarian program that provides scholarships and 1:1 assistants.
Approach:
A combination of teamwork, opportunity, and encouragement is all a child
with special needs requires to be successful at SNAAC. With small
classes, in a warm nurturing atmosphere, your child will succeed at those
activities in which she or he wishes to participate. Self-esteem will be
cultivated, creativity will be encouraged and friendships will be developed.
Our staff includes a team of dedicated educators and therapists well known
in their respective fields. These programs are made available
through grants from UJA Federation of NY. OMRDD.

Join us for an all-inclusive program which includes Sports, Social Skills, Speech,
Art, Computer, Tai Chi, Gymnastics, Music and Theatre. Small groups
with individual attention! Groups will be divided by ability and age
and integrated when applicable.

Teens with special
needs and teens peer volunteers will meet for 3 hours featuring Sports,
Social Skills, Human Development, Computers, Art, Music and Theatre.

Classes are personalized to support each child's individualized needs.

Led by social worker
These groups provides venues for individuals ages 21 and older who identify
themselves as having special needs, to gather on a regular basis and enrich
their social lives by planning activities based on mutual interest.

Volunteering and Community Service
We offer 12 and
13 year-olds a chance to participate in our Bar/Bat Mitzvah project by doing
volunteer work on Sunday/ Funday. In addition, high school students
volunteer for their community service requirements. All volunteers receive
full training by our staff.
Through a grant make possible by the Z.B. & J.E. Butler Foundation, selected
SNAAC teens will participate in the Special Needs Training Institute (SNTI),
a program coordinated with Mercy College. Teens attend classes and work with
autistic children while earning one (1) college credit.

A certified instructor will introduce you and your child to the basic tenets
of Tai Chi, which has been proven to improve balance, flexibility and muscle
strength. It also helps alleviate the symptoms of asthma, increase one's
energy level and agility, reduce stress and anxiety while improving overall

COMPUTER ANIMATION
(ages 8-16)

Students will create their own light-up talking puppets, develop
storyboards, shoot their work and create animation! Special attention will
be paid to student's individualized working style. Limited to 8 students.

WRITER'S WORKSHOP
(ages 4-7)
13 Mondays, beginning October 17
4:00-5:30pm

Students will increase their imagination and vocabulary, share ideas with
others, and engage in the creative process while having fun.
Various activities, both verbal and the use of illustrations, will lead to a
final group story project. It will be printed out for each child to have
when the workshop is finished. Students must have some verbal skills but do
not need written skills. Limited to 8 students.

SIB CONNECTION provides a therapeutic support group for siblings that have
brothers and sisters with special needs. It gives them the unique
opportunity in a confidential group for peer support and to learn they are
not alone. |
Matan at the JCC - The Gift of Jewish Learning for Every
Child
With Jewish educators, special educators, and educational consultants and administrators, MATAN
offers self-contained religious school classes meeting once a week, in
addition to family Jewish holiday celebrations and programs. For more

be scheduled back to back with Sunday/Funday.

Celebrations for Special Needs Children and Their Families (MATAN)
MATAN offers Jewish
holiday celebrations in a structured and supervised low-key environment,
which takes into account children’s special needs. These programs are both

Participate in a sports or gymnastics

About the Director, Charley Moskowitz,
LMSW
Charley
Moskowitz has worked for the past twenty years with children with special
needs. Earning her M.S.W. from Fordham
University, she went on to work with Pediatric HIV, Sudden Infant Death
Syndrome (S.I.D.S.), Pediatric Hospice and Maternal Child
Health. Formally the social worker at Towards Tomorrow, she brings her
expertise to the SNAAC program. As the Director of the
Special Services Enrichment Program at the JCC of Mid-Westchester, she
continues to be involved with a personal hands-on
approach. In her spare time Charley Moskowitz has a private practice for
children and their families. She has and continues to
participate in the development of higher learning through the supervision
and mentoring of graduate students and has gained the
reputation of a dedicated educator.
